It's hard for me to decide which of the two levels of this cover I like more. The delivery and the low-key instrumentation make it just a little bit sad, a little bit more a statement of resignation than a statement of triumph like Gloria Gaynor's original rendition. But I think there's also a lot of strength in it.
And the guitar, bass, and trumpet work are head and shoulders above the original. :)
