Clio and Ham seem to be figuring out their respective opinions on the living arrangements. Clio stays up higher than the wily kitten, and the wily kitten responds to occasional rrrrrring by getting pouncy. He doesn't actually pounce on her yet, but he definitely stalks and plays and thinks about it.
Miraculously, the rrrrring radius is shrinking. As long as food is not involved, Clio does not rrrr if she figures she is out of his reach. You can't "see" it, but in this photo, she is not rrrrring.
By contrast -- in this photograph, not only is she rrrrrring, but she is yeeming with impressive precision.
Clio came in and reminded me, at 3:00 in the morning, that she is also a kitty and deserves good press.
She had spent the better part of the last two days sulking and rrrrrrrr-ing in the corner of the dining room, or on a dining room chair as pictured here. However, early this morning she woke me by batting at my nose (no claws) and purring loudly. What did she want? Pillow space. She has returned to her old habit of taking up the nearest-the-door side of my pillow and sleeping there.
I must say, I believe this bodes very well.
Since I am among the many blogging about cats, here's the state of fiendishly gleeful singing cat, soon to be cats.
Was prompted by arbed's post to think about my senior girl's health, and also got to thinking they're going to want me to vaccinate her when I bring a new kit home. I haven't bothered with vaccinations because she does not go outside, but now I am told she will need a dystemper shot. (I tried explaining to the vet that her fits of distemper are not going to be improved by means of a shot, but he was having none of my wit.)
So, the big news is this: on Friday, Clio is stuffed in carrier, taken in the car to my son's school, and then transported along with the boy to the vet hospital where #71 is on week two of treatment for ringworm. She will be poked, prodded, subjected to the thermometer, and thoroughly miffed, and then while she's stewing about it, we'll go meet and play with #71 and his siblings. He won't be able to come home with us yet, but we're allowed to "lock him in," as it were, by paying his adoption fee and everything, provided he is a nice kitty and plays well with his prospective human boy.
Fingers crossed!
The highlight of each day is when I return home from work, shake a tablespoon of catnip onto the sisal rope board, and hold the brush while Clio brushes herself.
The official blog - at the moment - is at blogspot, but may move. This looks nifty.
For now, hello to the C.O. peeps - you can leave a comment here if you need an invite to Vox. Make sure you leave an e-mail address or I can't be of much help. ;)
And here is my cat, alternately molesting and mauling a rope:
