When Spinal Tap came out, I saw an ad for it in the grocery store line and asked my mom what it was. She made a face, and then she began explaining to me (I was 10) in great detail what the medical procedure involved.
So a few months later, over at my best friend's house, I was pretty weirded out when her Dad busted out the Betamax tape of the movie and said we were going to watch it that night. Who would watch a movie about something that hurt like hell and involved a bunch of doctors and needles?
Mom was not really up with the times.
Today, Spinal Tap is still easily in my top 5 movies of all time, and I am lucky enough to own the Criterion Collection DVD pictured here.
Gonna have to get past the stage where my son repeats every line that makes me laugh in a movie before I can watch it with him, though...

The boy and I have a hobby: we go to the Japanese Garden at the Washington Park Arboretum and we wait for the ducks to dive. Then, in the zenlike stillness, we exclaim, "DUCK BUTT!!"
